The shocking truth behind a former Rangers WAG's discovery of a Tinder scam
Scotland's oldest Playboy model, Stephanie Heaney, has revealed a disturbing revelation about her glamorous photos being misused on dating platforms. The 41-year-old Glaswegian mother, who was once in a relationship with Rangers favourite Nacho Novo, has been approached by men from across England who were scammed by fraudulent profiles using her images. This has led her to urge dating app companies to enhance user protection measures.
One victim, who wished to remain anonymous, contacted Heaney via direct message, explaining how he had been duped by a profile claiming to be her. The conversation, which began on Tinder, involved the scammer asking personal questions and suggesting a move to Facebook. It was only when the victim discovered the misuse of Heaney's images that he realized he had been scammed.
This is not an isolated incident. Within a single week, three men contacted Heaney, detailing similar experiences of engaging in extensive conversations with profiles they believed to be hers. Reacting to the situation, Heaney expressed her shock and sympathy, emphasizing the distress caused by these fraudulent activities.
She stated, 'I was a bit shocked to be honest that these men fell for it. My profile is mostly professional pictures, so not the usual type you would see on these dating apps. I really do feel bad for them.'
Heaney, who joined Playboy at 38, has issued a warning on social media, urging anyone who spots her name or images on Tinder or Hinge to report the profiles. She described the misuse of her photos as 'absolutely crazy' and called for greater responsibility from companies to prevent such incidents.
A Tinder spokesperson addressed the allegations, stating that catfishing is a violation of their Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. They assured users that those found engaging in such activities are removed from the platform. The spokesperson also encouraged users to utilize their Verification tools and look for the 'blue tick' to ensure genuine profiles.
Hinge has also been approached for comment regarding the claims made in this article.
