Tame Impala Wins Grammy! Immigration Speeches & Top Award Nominees | 68th Grammy Awards Highlights (2026)

Tame Impala's Grammy Win Sparks Conversations on Immigration

The 68th annual Grammy Awards, held in Los Angeles, saw Australian band Tame Impala take home the prestigious Best Dance/Electronic Recording award for their song 'End of Summer'. This marks Tame Impala's second Grammy win, following a collaboration with French duo Justice on 'Neverender' last year. However, the ceremony was not just about music; it also became a platform for artists to address social issues, particularly immigration.

Billie Eilish, who won Song of the Year for 'Wildflower', used her acceptance speech to voice her opposition to President Trump's immigration policies. She emphasized the importance of standing up for what's right, stating, 'No one is illegal on stolen land.'

British singer Olivia Dean, a granddaughter of an immigrant, won Best New Artist and expressed her gratitude for the bravery of immigrants, saying, 'I'm a product of bravery, and those people deserve to be celebrated.'

Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny, nominated for Record of the Year, also addressed immigration in his speech after winning Best Música Urbana Album. He criticized the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and emphasized the humanity and American identity of immigrants, saying, 'We're not savage. We're not animals. We're not aliens. We are humans, and we are Americans.'

The Grammys, hosted by comedian Trevor Noah, featured performances by Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, and Sabrina Carpenter. The ceremony had 95 categories, with Kendrick Lamar, Bad Bunny, and Lady Gaga each winning awards early on. Lamar led with three rap trophies, Lady Gaga won Best Dance Pop Recording, and Bad Bunny took home Best Global Music Performance.

All three artists are in the running for the coveted Album of the Year award, which would make history. The Record of the Year nominees include DtMF by Bad Bunny, Manchild by Sabrina Carpenter, Anxiety by Doechii, WILDFLOWER by Billie Eilish, Abracadabra by Lady Gaga, luther by Kendrick Lamar with SZA, The Subway by Chappell Roan, and APT.ROSÉ by Bruno Mars.

The Album of the Year nominees are DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS by Bad Bunny, SWAG by Justin Bieber, Man's Best Friend by Sabrina Carpenter, Let God Sort Em Out by Clipse, Pusha T & Malice, MAYHEM by Lady Gaga, GNX by Kendrick Lamar, MUTT by Leon Thomas, and CHROMAKOPIA by Tyler, The Creator.

Kendrick Lamar leads with nine nominations, while Lady Gaga follows with seven. The Grammys continue to be a powerful platform for artists to express their views and celebrate the diverse world of music.
